Information System and System Methodology OR System Development Methodology

On the 4th week, we got broad knowledge that is very useful information in the information technology world. Firstly, our lecturer reminds us about the previous lecture that was about information communication technology and information technology. She taught us about the information system (IS) and gave a brief detail about it. Information system is the set of components or elements. It works on the base of it’s of module. Input (data) start processing to create output (Information) by using information system.
Information system

After that, she talked about the computer based information system (CBIS) by defining “ a combination of 1.software
2.Hardware
3.Telecommunication networks that people build and use to collect, create, distribute data or information in an organization.
It is the software based solution used together and analyzes the information.
she also taught us  about different types of CBIS. We use these types in an organization to develop new technology. After that, she taught us about the common usage of CBIS in organization and in business. Business, people and information are inter related in organization. In the business strategy, we use three types of information such as, strategic, tactical and operational.  People, worker and end user use these types of information in business organization.

She also taught us about the components of CBIS like1. people
2.Hardware
3.software
4.database
5.telecommunication network
6.procedure.
After that she explained briefly about the components of CBIS and their uses in information system.  She told us the differentiate between software and hardware and their components. Hardware allows to user to enter data into information system but software is an intangible part of computer.

Database is a place store data into information system. People are also include in components of IS. People can be IT architecture, system analyst or designer, end user and programmer who run maintain and develop the information system.

Information system development and Methodology:

On the next week, she started to elaborate the information system and its development by using Methodology.
System development is the process of defining, designing, testing and implementing new software application or program. ISD methodology is a collection of procedures, tools, techniques, and documentation aids which help the system developers in their effort to implement in new information system. ISD methodology tells us some steps those will be taken in IS and how to perform those steps. We use information system development strategy when we desire a new system and may have some problems with existing system.

Methodology are steps by using methods, procedures and tools to make information system more developed.
Example of methodology
After that, our lecturer taught us about the types of ISD methodology such as
1. Gane and sarsons (STRADIS) ,
2. information engineering(IE)
3. Jackson system development, prototyping iterative approach
4.structured approach (SDLC) soft system methodology and
5.Ethics.

There are many participants in system development methodology such as system analyst, stakeholders, users, support personal programmer and project manager. During the ISD planning, we take some steps are follows

1.strategic plan
2,develop objectives
3.identify IS project

4. analyze resources
5.set schedule and deadlines
6. develop the IS.

Types of System development Methodology

We also learnt about the characteristics of methodology. We learnt three main types of ISD methodology are SDLC, prototyping and STRADIS.
System Analyst:
Ø Design new it solutions in organization and collect/examine/analyze the data and information.
Ø Implementing new system.
Ø Presenting proposals to customers.
Ø And drawing up specific proposals for modified or replacement of syste,.
