Database Management system

From this learning outcome started from week 8 to 10, I have learnt a lot of new things and got most effective and broad knowledge  about database management system. In previous lesson, I just had the idea about database which is like a term of database management system.
Our lecturer reminds us about the database by defining it” database is a place to store manages and retrieves data or information in information system”.
Database has much application which is used in organization, bank and college and universities.

She also taught us about the functions of database which is used to

1.     store

2.    organize

3. control the data.

1.     After getting the concept and briefed idea about database, she started with database management system.” Database is a software package used to manipulate the database and also called database program.

 1. Microsoft access

2 SQL servers

3. Clipper

3. Oracle

 are the best examples of database management system. She taught us about the features of database that allows user to create new database, give users the ability to query& modify the data using appropriate language or data manipulation.

We learnt about some types of languages used in database which are

1.DDL (data definition language)

2. DML (data manipulation language)

3. SQL ( structured query language).

. After that, she taught us about thecomponents of database management system. The types are

1. Field

2. Record

3. Table

4. Key field

5. Relational database

6. Objects

 She gave a detailed brief about it.

There is term in the components of database in the form of entity relationship diagram (ERD). It has three form such as
1. one to one

2.one to many

3.many to many relationship in database management system.

We got useful knowledge about relationship of database in the database management system. Components of database are the users such as

1.     End user

2.     Application Programmers

3.     Database Administrator

Database models are;

1.     Structure

2.     Characteristics

3.     Description

4.     Organization

There are some types of database models 

1.     Hierarchical database

2.     Network database

3.     Relational database

4.     Object-relational database

It was important outcome for me in information technology lecturer because I got wide range of knowledge that will influence me to get further knowledge in my undergraduate program.
